Thrive in College and Beyond
This work is our passion and we are committed to helping others succeed. In addition to our expert services, Bright Futures continues to stand out for our strong commitment to our community. We offer free workshops and seminars, participate in volunteer mentoring, and are partnered with several nonprofits. We give back to foster equal opportunity for all to have access to higher education.
Breakthrough Houston provides low-income and low-resourced students enriching education to prepare them to enter into competitive high-school programs and for entry into college. Dr. Dennard and Elana Guerra help these high-achieving students by creating and hosting the yearly “Breakthrough Houston Essay Workshop.” Here students work on their college admissions essays under the guidance of Dr. Dennard and her colleagues.
CollegeCommunityCareer (CCC) is a newer partnership and Bright Futures is excited to provide the “gift of self-awareness” to low-income, first-generation students in several school districts on the north and west sides of Houston. Bright Futures empowers these hard-working students with complementary Birkman Reports.
University of Houston, Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship is a new partner. Our Bright Futures team values the gift of mentorship and many of the team members are mentors within their community. Dr. Dennard is a mentor for the University of Houston’s Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship.
Pearland ISD RISE Program – Elana Guerra is a mentor with the Pearland ISD RISE program.
United Way of Galveston – Bright Futures has partnered with this organization to offer a workshop series for college readiness.
